Orhun Uluşahin

PhD student

Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics

Orhun Uluşahin was a PhD student at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics [MPI], Nijmegen, The Netherlands. His supervisors were Prof. Antje S. Meyer, Prof. James McQueen, and Dr. Hans Rutger Bosker. His project targeted the role of talker familiarity in speech perception and production, using f0 normalization and phonetic convergence as main paradigms. For instance, he tested whether familiarity with a talker modulates the extent to which interlocutors converge towards each other on a phonetic level. After his PhD, Orhun took up a postdoc position with Prof. James McQueen at the Donders Institute of Radboud University.

Orhun’s PhD defense is planned to take place on October 17, 2025. His thesis title is: “Voices in our heads: Talker-specific listening and speaking”
